Hey there. My post about John McWhorter that Gawker linked to was written a few years ago, and I disabled comments on those pages when I moved the site to a new CMS. If you want to leave a comment, you can leave it here.

I link to your article everywhere..
..I see McWhore's name...hope you don't mind, but I feel people should know. You get deep into the recesses of that brother's (a lot of brothers' and sisters'?) sick head with that one and its def. a handy reference for people trying to assess the creds of these cable news' Senior Black Political Corespondences.
I owe you a drink!
I actually saw some of those links in my logs and meant to give you a hight five. Your persistence paid off :)
EBOG on John McWhorter
You are attacking McWhorter's manhood and blackness, but you offer no solutions to the problems he raises. As a teacher, I've witnessed way too many black students who were intelligent, caring human beings who simply disconnected from the educational process. Somehow, we all have to figure out how to create a world where knowledge does equal power, even for those who truly feel disenfranchised.
Instead of calling out McWhorter because you perceive him as week, join his effort to lift the entire black community to the next level - I can see great progress being made, but large pockets of people, of all colors, still believe black Americans are not striving to improve themselves. That is not acceptable. Black Americans need to increase the pride in their accomplishments, both in Sports and Entertainment, but also in the operating room, and in the board room.
The status quo is better than the 60s, as McWhorter points out, but race relations have to improve dramatically for all of us to breath easier. Use your powers to help make that happen - McWhorter is not an enemy to that cause.
1st of all "Black America" is a construct, 2nd of all, just STFU
"That is not acceptable. Black Americans need to increase the pride in their accomplishments, both in Sports and Entertainment, but also in the operating room, and in the board room."
Anon:
Contrary to notions espoused by you and McWhor'er, "Black America" is not some monolithic organism that can respond to earnest pleas for rationality. "Black America" is a construct, existing primarily as a way to easily define that group most targeted by American society's irrational and omnipresent racism.
When you say such idiotic things as "McWhorter is not the enemy," it becomes clear that you don't have a real understanding of why it would be problematic for someone without a real education in African American social and cultural history, but instead a confused cultural upbringing, to continuing perpetuating intellectual fraud as an authority on all things African American/racial.
